BREAKING: Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri Make Tinubu’s 32-Man Ambassadorial Nominee List (Full List)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, urging lawmakers to act quickly.

The disclosure was made on Saturday in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The new batch features influential public figures including former aviation minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and former presidential media aide Reno Omokri, both named under the non-career ambassadorial category.

Their nomination comes days after the President sent an initial list of three names for Senate screening.

In two separate letters addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu asked the Red Chamber to consider and confirm 15 nominees expeditiously as Career Ambassadors and 17 nominees as Non-Career Ambassadors.

The President noted that: “There are four women on the career ambassadors’ list. Six women are on the non-career ambassadors’ list”

This shows a push toward gender-inclusive diplomacy.

According to a Presidency source, confirmed nominees are expected to be posted to diplomatic missions in strategic partner countries, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa and Kenya.

As well as permanent global missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO and the African Union.

However, nominees will only learn their final diplomatic assignment after Senate confirmation.

Earlier Nominees Still Awaiting Posting

Last week’s three initially submitted nominees include:

• Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo)
• Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa)
• Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun)

All three are under consideration for diplomatic posting to the UK, USA, or France once confirmed.

The President reiterated: “More nominees for ambassadorial positions will be announced soon”
