The Police Service Commission, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, has announced the commencement of the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, following an approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Commission said the recruitment aligns with the President’s directive to strengthen community policing, enhance internal security, and expand the police manpower base.

This comes after Tinubu, on November 26, 2025, declared a nationwide security emergency, ordering the police and armed forces to recruit additional personnel to confront rising insecurity across the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the PSC Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, the Commission announced that the recruitment portal will be open from December 15, 2025, and will close on January 25, 2026.

The statement read partly, “The PSC, in collaboration with the NPF, is pleased to announce the commencement of recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force, as directed by President Bola Tinubu. Following this Presidential directive… the Commission has approved the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from eligible Nigerians.”

They must additionally show proof of at least three years of relevant experience and valid trade test certifications.
