Sowore Re-Emerges AAC National Chairman, Vows to ‘Dismantle Oppressive Systems’

Human rights activist and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been re-elected as the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC).

He was returned alongside newly elected members of the National Working Committee during the party’s National Convention held on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The convention attracted party delegates, stakeholders, media representatives and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Participants at the event restated the party’s commitment to challenging what they described as Nigeria’s entrenched political order.

They also pledged to champion a political system built on justice, social equity and people-centred governance.

‘AAC Will Usher in a New Nigeria’ – Sowore

In his acceptance speech, Sowore reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fighting injustice and dismantling oppressive structures that he said have fuelled poverty and insecurity in the country.

He described the convention as “a practical demonstration of what genuine democratic participation should look like in a country yearning for credible leadership.”

“AAC will usher in a new Nigeria,” he declared, emphasising the party’s ideological foundations and long-term vision for national transformation.

Convention Conducted by Planning Committee

The exercise was coordinated by the AAC National Convention Planning Committee led by Kayode Babayomi as Chairman, with Ambassador Umar Y. Abubakar serving as Secretary.
